A spy? Double agent? These are the new terms associated with me, but in a good way. Last Saturday I spoke at my first event for WOMEN. 300 Women! It was amazing. You can see the full wrap up here.

Ultimate Wing Girl and leading female pick-up artist Marni Kinrys has spent nearly a decade coaching men on how to understand women “so that they can get everything they want WITHOUT being d-bags.” In the process, she’s picked up on a few details about men to help us gals better understand what’s happening inside their heads.

1. Men are scared silly about approaching you.
After spending time with more than 100,000 men, Marni has come to the conclusion that guys are stuck to their bar stools thinking about the best way to pick you up. That’s where she comes in, offering advice to guys on how to read your signals. So, next time you’re in a bar and you catch a cutie looking at you across the room, go ahead and walk on over. Most likely he’s more nervous than you are.
2. Men are looking for permission.
Whether it’s the first kiss or second base, men are waiting and watching for you to give them the green light. That means you might have to up your flirting game a bit, even if it means taking opportunities to touch his arm, smiling at him with your eyes and using body language. If all else fails, you could always kiss him first!
3. Men are terrible at mind reading.
As much as they try—and try they do—men are not so keen at picking up on subtle cues. For instance, if you want to see your guy more than once a week, Marni suggests calling him up and saying, “I want to talk about some things I’ve been thinking about. I would like to have another date this week.” The trick is in your phrasing.”Guys are much more receptive when you start your sentences with ‘I think’ rather than ‘I feel,’” says Marni.
4. Men are just as freaked out about the phone as you are.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve deliberated over the exact wording in a text. Turns out, it’s not just women who struggle about when to call and when to text back. “Men are afraid to sound too needy. He’s thinking, ‘When can I call back? What do I say to her that lets her know I like her without being a chump?’”
Sigh. I don’t know about you, but knowing that guys are just as stumped as we are makes me feel a whole lot better.
