IMHO it would be better just to cut and run. Just say “Well I’ve got to go, see ya later” and run. Why waste any further time on a girl who thinks that little of you to do “help me eyes” in the first place? Surely it’s better to forget her and move on to someone nicer.

So as soon as a woman does this the man she’s with is automatically a “doof”? And snubbing the “doof” in his face is the way to go?

That’s the other side of the help me eyes. It’s’ not just about “save me” for the woman, at the same time this move lowers the guy’s social value down to zero to anyone who noticed.

I wouldn’t do a rescue myself, if she’s going to do help me eyes to one guy, what’s to stop her doing the same thing to me later, and lower my social value down to zero? Men have feelings too, I’d rather meet a girl off my own steam instead of humiliating a brother.

You are the first one to ask me that. Next time you are out look around at women being hit on by other men and watch for the help me eyes. If you see a woman doing them, YOU swoop in and rescue her and let her know you saw the sign and came to save her.

Then introduce yourself. You are now in HERO territory so play it up and be confident.

The help me eyes can be described like this:
It’s the subtle eye raise-and-shut, the quick glance over to the group of people when the guy is too engrossed in what he’s saying and entrapping the poor girl in the process.

Pretending to be the girl’s long-lost friend, a strategic hug with your back just happening to get in the way of said target, then pulling her to safety will earn BIG brownie points. Not just pulling her to safety, but snubbing the doof in his face and him having not a clue what’s going on.

Nobody makes it up, women have been better at reading non-verbal communication for generations. I’ve seen girls use this signal many times (sometimes I was the cause of it!) and I can tell you it’s everywhere once you know what to look for. Again, women are experts at non-verbal communication, so what appears subtle to dudes (some guys probably will never be able to pick up on what she did in the video), it’s a glaring alarm to other girls. Why do you think they use it? Because it works. Guys don’t know they do it.

Hey Marni,

If a cool socially aware girl sees a GUY making eyes like that will she come in and help him? I got cornered at a house party by this Indy-type girl who looked like a bookstore clerk who decided to start her own chickrock band 5 years ago but failed and never got back around to it. She started telling me about her cat limericks about 4 inches away from my face and I wanted to run. I’m pretty sure I was flashing help-me-eyes like a strobe light. I got no relief.

I know no guy would be able to catch that, but…
