How To Avoid Being Creepy Over Text
How to text a girl without coming across as creepy has everything to do with how confident you feel when you are texting. It’s easy to get tongue tied when texting a cute girl you just met.
There are some practical ways that you can correct being creepy and we are going to talk about that now using a case study from a client.
Here’s an email that I got from Mike:
On how he texts a girl
I met a girl at Whole Foods last week. We have been trying to make plans to meet up for lunch. She is moving into her new place and things are hectic for her. I am going home for the week to see my family, so we agreed that it would have to be sometime the next week.
Anyway, I think I got too cute on a text (sent this AM).
Here’s the text:
“Hey how do you like your new place? Are your “stuffed animals on the bed” unpacked yet? Yes even though you are this strong athletic girl, I can totally picture you keeping at least one stuffed animal…”
Didn’t hear back from her, and I am a little concerned that my attempt to be funny might have been too much.
She is a tomboy, and she admitted when we met that she swears when she drives. But she does seem sort of feminine underneath.
She has also said she was hectic setting things up with the move, so maybe this text was off.
My plan is to just call her Sunday night. How does that sound?
I will be honest with you. The text was a little creepy.
This is how I heard the text in my head:
Are your “stuffed animals on the bed” unpacked yet?
This joke is not translating properly and it gives me an icky feeling. I hate to be blunt but it’s true and this is my real gut reaction.
The text seems a little premature and too cutesy to text to a girl you just met. It sound like a boyfriend/girlfriend text.
But from a new guy it’s just creepy.
Think before you text
In the future, think before you text and think to yourself, am I texting to actually say something or am I texting to make sure she doesn’t forget about me?
Texts that come from that “I hope she doesn’t forget about me” place always fail unless she is already into you.
I want to point that you said that you were going to talk and hang out next week.
Here’s how you text a girl:
Therefore there was no need to contact her. If you wanted to be sweet, you could have sent a simple(non-creepy) text saying something like “so how did the move go?”
Or you could have tried something like this, “successful move?” or “enjoying your new place?” and that’s it.
If there was a connection with this girl she should be able to shake the text and move forward to actually meeting you.
Make sure you pull back a little and understand that just because a girl is into you and accepts an invite does not mean she is your girlfriend.
I actually have this kick ass book on how to successfully text girls so you don’t come across as needy or creepy.
Not only that, it will give you word-for-word texts to that build instant rapport, texts that playfully tease her, and help you identify her “tests” with laser precision.
Let me be your wing girl.
