Should You Trust Your 1st Impression When Dating

Someone just forwarded me this really interesting blind date study that evaluates whether or not we should trust our 1st impressions when it comes to dating and meeting people. That was a mouthful 😉

I want you to watch this video for 2 reasons:

1. It’s a really interesting concept that hopefully shows you that you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover. A.K.A take a minute to be curious about those you meet. You may just discover that you ARE attracted to them even if you weren’t at first.

2. This is a great visual of body language. Watch both his and her body language to see what their bodies do when they feel a certain way. Looking for these signs in real life can really help you understand how the other person is thinking/feeling about you.

I suggest you watch it a couple of times just so you can take in everything I saw.

Press play to watch it:

The study itself is really interesting to me and drives home a strong message that I hope you picked up on that I mentioned above. Your first instinct is not always right AND, for the men reading this, a woman’s opinion about you can shift as she gets to know you more.

I have an exercise for you inspired from this video. Whether you are a man or a woman, allow yourself 5 minutes and at least 3 curiosity driven questions like the ones in this video before you make a decision on whether or not a person is for YOU!

Would love to hear your thoughts on this video/study. Please write a comment below.

Marni, I would love to hear you describe what you saw in the body language, especially the woman’s. It was very subtle and not that easy for me to read

  • She said she would “consider” dating him–not a yes and not a no. Then the video ends with a nonsexual hug. They didn’t click.
